Blue Line & Advanced Filters | How They Work

How Advanced Filters draw the blue line on the graph, and how to compare graph and season averages.

What are Advanced Filters?

Advanced Filters let you analyze a player through metrics like:

  • Player Specific: Minutes, USG% (Usage Rate), FGA and more

  • Opponent Ranking: Opp DefRtg (Opponent Defensive Rating), Opp D-Rank vs Position (points the opponent allows to the same position) and more

What does the Blue Line show?

The blue line tracks the selected metric across every game on the graph, next to the player's line and actual scoring. Use it to:

  • Spot patterns and outliers

  • See correlations (e.g., tougher defense = lower scoring)

  • Check trends against real context

Example

Select USG% in Advanced Filters. A blue line shows the player's usage in each game, so you can compare usage rate vs actual scoring to see whether usage explains the scoring.

Player performance graph with USG% blue line overlay showing usage rate across games.

Comparing averages (graph AVG vs season AVG)

Below the graph:

  • GRAPH AVG: the stat's average for the games currently shown (based on your filters)

  • SEASON AVG: the player's full-season average for that stat

Compare the two to see whether a player runs above or below their season norm under those conditions.

How can I see the numbers?

Hover over any game while a filter is selected. The value shows up highlighted in blue.
