Why Did My Subscription Renew Earlier Than the Reminder Said?

Website renewals bill in UTC, so the charge can land a day early in your time zone.

Reminder said April 3 but you were charged April 2? Website renewals run on UTC, so depending on your time zone the charge can land a little earlier or later than the date in your email. A renewal on April 3 (UTC) can be the evening of April 2 in the US.

Does this apply to app subscriptions?

No. For subscriptions bought in the iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google control the renewal date and reminders.

What to expect

  • A reminder email 3 days before your renewal

  • A month or year of access from the moment each renewal runs, so a charge that looks a day early doesn't cost you any time
